Hello and happy Friday! I haven't posted a Flashback Friday in a few weeks, but when Facebook brought up this memory that I'd posted on January 15, 2012, I knew I wanted to share the post I'd written back on October 15, 2011 when I brought these two sweeties home. Saturday, October 15, 2011
October 15, 2011 Super Secret Surprise... Revealed!! I’ve blogged about it, I’ve tweeted about it, I’ve even Google+’d the fact that I had a super secret surprise. I wanted to tell you all about it, really I did, but I just couldn’t. It’s not that I was trying to be mean. Really I wasn’t. It’s just that I wasn’t 100% sure my super secret surprise was actually going to happen, and I needed to be sure before sharing the news. Well, now I am sure... so I guess I should tell you... Do you want to know? You've all been so patient, and I appreciate that.

This weekend I was driving my car, picking up my youngest from a Bar Mitzvah (Mom taxi at your service), and the Rolling Stones came on my radio. To be honest, I’m not all that into the Stones, but I found myself humming along. The car I’m driving is new. At least it’s new to me. Back in November, when it was time to turn in my lease, I found a 2018 certified used car with low miles that had been a fleet car. Against my oldest son’s advice of “don’t buy a rental car” I bought it. Sorry son. I love everything about the car, but I have to admit I have not fully mastered all of the features. I chalk this up to old lady + technology. I’m getting there though. It took me way too long to figure out all the Bluetooth functions - it was complicated ok? And there were a bunch of beeps and chimes and blinks that had me searching through the manual. Turns out I have blind spot and lane departure warnings. It also turns out I desperately needed these and never knew it before. But back to the music… For those keeping track, this is my THIRD blog post now that talks about my psychic. Yes, she's gone from "the psychic" to "my psychic." No I haven't consulted her again, but I can't seem to stop thinking about some of the things she said. One point I forgot to mention is that I asked her about the "1's" and how somehow I always manage to look at the clock when it's either 1:11 or 11:11. And it's not just on my phone. It could be the clock over my stove or the clock in my car. I'm not saying I only look at the clock at that time, but I do somehow magically always seem to catch the ones and it's been like that for years. Also, it kind of freaks me out. Which brings me to today's Flashback Friday post, because I actually wrote about this back on July 7, 2012. Take a read, then I'll let you in on what my psychic had to say on the matter. July 7, 2012
Attention Angels: Simple Instructions Preferred For about a year now, I’ve been noticing the “1’s” – as in it seems I always look at the clock when it is 1:11 or 11:11. In fact, it’s gotten to the point when it’s almost a daily occurrence. My son insists it’s because I’ve conditioned my body to look at the clock at that time everyday. My daughter would say it’s a sign I’m supposed to love One Direction as much as she does. A friend of mine says it’s the angels trying to keep me centered. I personally prefer my friend’s response (sorry family.) When I woke up this morning, I had 111 unopened emails. Not only that - I took a screen shot and it turned out that was my 222nd photo. So now the two's are following me also? I've been wanting my own chair. But not just any chair. I've been wanting a big cushy chair. The kind I can sink into and maybe put my feet up … so I guess I've been wanting an ottoman, too … and possibly a big fluffy blanket to wrap myself in when I'm sitting in it, because my house is always cold. The point is, it has to be a space where I can get comfy with my laptop and a cup of coffee or tea and write some words - AH WORDS! It has to be a chair that is just for ME. In MY own space.
Yes, I have a house, but here's what happens when you have a house. Every inch gets taken over for some other purpose, and suddenly you're left without even a corner for your own magic writing chair. I needed to reclaim a corner! The other day my youngest son who is now twelve, said something crazy funny in the car, which I now can't remember. That's what happens when you turn 50. Actually, it happened way before I turned 50, but that's not the point. The point is, that after he had said it, and after I had finished laughing, I thought to myself, "remember this, it's great blog material." You can see how that worked out. Luckily though, there were plenty of other times when I did remember. This post from October 1, 2011 when my son was just 5 years old, is one of the first of many conversations I blogged about. October 1, 2011 A Conversation With My Five Year Old: The Other Planet As he does every morning, my five year old joyfully ran into my arms for his morning snuggle. I cherish these moments as I know they eventually fade - just ask his older siblings. But then I thought, maybe if I start at an early age, I could (brainwash) convince him to always snuggle me: Me: Will you love me forever? C: Yes. Me: And always give me hugs and snuggles? C: Yes ... well - not when you're gone. Me: Oh? Where am I going? C: To the other planet. Me: What other planet? C: The one you go to when you get old. Me: Oh... C: Don't worry - I'll come to see you all the time. M: You will? But you won't give me hugs and snuggles? C: Sorry - those are the rules! Now if only I can figure out how to amend this rule book! ***** For those wondering, my now twelve-year-old is still a snuggler, although not in the morning. In the morning, he is a typical tween. (Moms of tweens, you know what I'm talking about!) Also … remember my Monday Mind post about how I went to see the psychic last weekend? The psychic told me that of my three children, my youngest had some psychic/medium abilities of his own, which makes me wonder … Just what exactly does my child know about this other planet? Have a great weekend! xo, Karen |
